Just a Piece of the Puzzle

The truth is that the services we provide are essential, but they are only a temporary solution to a more permanent problem. In King County especially, we are seeing an alarming increase in the number of people left without permanent shelter. Consumable goods continue to be absolutely necessary to live yet they cannot provide the security and long-term effects of adequate housing and healthcare.

While we recognize these desperately needed resources are outside our scope as an organization, we must also acknowledge the root of this crisis. We offer care and connection, a foundational part of recovery, yet this alone is not a final solution. We must invest in building housing security and universal healthcare into our societal lexicon if we want to see true relief for our communities’ most vulnerable inhabitants.

Even in light of this realization, we firmly believe a crucial step to growing in a meaningful direction is to listen to each other, to witness one another, and to reinvest in our overall wellbeing. As we knit our community together, we become stronger, better informed advocates of ourselves as a whole. These are the tiny acts that lead to a brighter future.
