A community that seeks to nurture the wellness of the earth and the people in it.

Where it all began

Two friends with a desire to use what resources the earth provides, and skills honed through unique practice and craft, came together in 2020 amidst the Covid-19 pandemic to provide for nature and its people. A rise in homelessness across the U.S. and the growing climate crisis have to be addressed, and by partnering with local farmers, using the last of their weekly harvests, John and Milly strive to turn waste into bountiful resources of sustenance. Over the past 14 months, they have overseen the distribution of over 8,000 meals directly into the hands of residents occupying Seattle city encampments as well as the donation of over 5,000 pounds of produce to food banks.

And the story and journey continues…

Our Vision and Values

Planet Worth is a mutual aid collective working to sustainably connect any neighbor in need to tangible resources directly from their community. The individuals that empower and interact with this nonprofit are the conduits by which our community is strengthened.

Our organization is discontented with the status quo and stands witness to the mistreatment of individuals who are affected by societal pillars of classism, racism, ableism, and colonialism.

By participating in the radical act of personal connection and barrier-free resource sharing, we challenge the ideas that essential items should be earned and that anything holding our neighbor in poverty is someone else’s responsibility.

In doing so, we shift our focus away from consumer culture and into sustainability, treating the earth as the unifying member of all communities that serves as our catalyst for life itself.

Planet Worth is a leftist, anti-racist, anti-capitalist, anti-fascist, anti-police organization that recognizes the role of our entire community in uplifting oppressed peoples in word and action.

We urge local power to divest from law enforcement and invest in life-supporting human services. We are drug-positive and believe in the many forms of harm reduction available to us. We allow these principles to inform our interactions with all of our neighbors.

We recognize that the services we have to offer - including local organic foods, hygiene supplies, fresh water, heat and cooking sources, tents and cold weather gear - are merely an inadequate substitute for what is genuinely needed.

Until housing, medical services, mental health services, and access to fresh food are guaranteed rights for all, we will continue fighting to let fewer of our neighbors slip through the wide cracks in our system.

Planet Worth seeks to shine light on everyone's inherent value, bringing each other together to become the strongest, healthiest versions of ourselves as a whole. We look through the lens of togetherness and use that view to determine our steps forward.
